Rega Elex MK4 – integrated amplifier with DAC and RIAA
Rega Elex MK4 is an integrated amplifier with a lively, energetic, and rhythmic sound reproduction. It combines classic Rega amplifier design with a built-in DAC, Moving Magnet RIAA amplifier, and headphone output. The result is a versatile stereo amplifier that can bring together both analog and digital audio sources in one hi-fi system.
Elex MK4 builds on Rega’s proven class A/B amplifier design and delivers 2 x 72 watts into 8 ohms. At the same time, the new cabinet matches the design of the rest of Rega’s range. The combination of power, dynamics, and many connection options makes Elex MK4 an obvious choice for an ambitious stereo system.

An integrated amplifier for both analog and digital audio sources
Rega Elex MK4 gives you more ways to bring your music together around one amplifier. The integrated Rega DAC has two digital inputs, while the headphone output is placed on the front, making it easy to access.
The various inputs make it possible to use Elex MK4 with, among other things, a streamer, turntable, CD player, and TV. You get both analog line inputs and digital inputs, as well as an integrated Moving Magnet RIAA amplifier. Pre-out and Record Out provide additional flexibility when the amplifier is to be part of a larger hi-fi system.
The power output is rated at 2 x 72 watts into 8 ohms, 2 x 90 watts into 6 ohms, and 2 x 113 watts into 4 ohms. This gives Elex MK4 good possibilities for being paired with different speakers.
Quality components and integrated MM RIAA amplifier
Rega has placed emphasis on component selection and circuit design in Elex MK4. Among other things, the amplifier uses high-quality relays, polypropylene capacitors, and Sanken output transistors. The circuit has also been rebuilt and optimized in the MK4 generation.
The digital and analog sections are galvanically isolated and are powered by a low-noise multi-stage linear power supply. The construction has been developed with a focus on keeping the different sections separate and creating good working conditions for both the analog amplifier section and the integrated DAC.
Elex MK4 also has an integrated Moving Magnet (MM) RIAA amplifier. The RIAA circuit is divided into two stages to minimize interaction, while polyester capacitors are used in the signal paths and polypropylene capacitors in the RIAA circuits themselves.
This makes Rega Elex MK4 particularly interesting if the turntable is an important part of your stereo system. The built-in MM input can, for example, be combined with Rega’s own Planar 3 and Planar 6 turntables.
Headphone output and built-in protection features
Rega Elex MK4 has a dedicated headphone output on the front. Speaker switching is handled by the output mute relay, so the headphone function does not unnecessarily affect the signal path when it is not in use.
At the same time, the amplifier has several built-in protection features. These include thermal overheating protection, short-circuit protection, and DC protection.
Rega Elex MK4 thus brings together a powerful class A/B amplifier, DAC, MM RIAA amplifier, and headphone output in one solution. This makes it well suited to a classic stereo system, where both digital sources and vinyl need to be connected to the same integrated amplifier.
