Ortofon MC X50
Ortofon MC X50 is the flagship model in the new MC X series and developed for vinyl enthusiasts who want maximum precision from a Moving Coil cartridge. With a Nude Micro Ridge diamond, boron cantilever, and coils wound with high-purity silver, the Ortofon MC X50 extracts even the smallest details from the record groove with impressive calm, dynamics, and naturalness.
The combination of advanced materials and technology from Ortofon’s most ambitious MC cartridges delivers high-resolution reproduction, precise instrument placement, and an open soundstage that invites long listening sessions.

Micro Ridge diamond with precise tracking
Ortofon MC X50 uses a Nude Micro Ridge diamond with a large contact area against the record groove. The advanced profile tracks even complex modulations with high precision while also reducing distortion—especially on the innermost tracks of the record.
The result is detailed reproduction with improved focus, high resolution, and a natural coherence in the music.
Boron cantilever with fast response
The lightweight and very stiff boron cantilever transfers the movements from the diamond to the generator system with great precision. The combination of low mass and high rigidity ensures fast response to even the smallest signal changes and preserves dynamics, timing, and tonal character.
This provides a lively soundstage with clear instrument placement and convincing musical reproduction.
Quad-coil generator system with silver coils
MC X50 uses Ortofon’s quad-coil generator system with coils wound from high-purity silver. Together with the newly developed magnet system, this creates stable signal generation with high channel balance and effective stereo separation.
The result is an open and precise soundstage in which voices and instruments are reproduced with great clarity and finesse.
Resonance control and mechanical stability
Ortofon manufactures the rubber suspension for the MC X50 itself and has developed a special rubber compound specifically for the model. The suspension is optimized for the interaction between the Micro Ridge diamond and the lightweight boron cantilever, so the cartridge maintains stable contact with the record groove—even during demanding musical passages.
The housing is made of MIM-molded stainless steel with an internal honeycomb structure that increases mechanical stability and reduces unwanted resonances.
For serious vinyl enthusiasts
Ortofon MC X50 is developed for hi-fi systems where every detail matters. The cartridge combines advanced materials, precision manufacturing, and Ortofon’s many years of experience with Moving Coil technology to deliver reproduction with high resolution, dynamics, and musicality.
If you want the most advanced model in the MC X series, the Ortofon MC X50 is an obvious choice for a no-compromise vinyl system.
