Undistorted and precise bass with ingenious technology

One of the biggest upgrades in the new Kube series is that KEF has equipped it with their patented Music Integrity Engine® (MIE). This is an exceptionally advanced DSP that ensures all the components in the subwoofer work in perfect harmony with each other and the rest of the construction.

The MIE acts as the brain of the subwoofer, and one of its functions is the so-called Intelligent Bass Extension (iBX), which analyzes the input signals and makes lightning-fast adjustments. The brilliant thing about this feature is that it makes the subwoofer play deep, clean, and precisely at any volume. It does this by extending the frequency range when you listen at moderate sound pressure levels, and when you reach the highest sound pressure levels, the very deepest frequencies are filtered out (SmartLimiter).

KEF's innovative technologies do not stop there, however. The KC92 is also equipped with custom DSP and Smart Distortion Control Technology (SCDT). Through SDCT, the subwoofer registers the movement of the diaphragm via the voice coil and makes precise corrections for non-linear distortion. At the same time, an advanced DSP model of the driver continuously compensates for non-linearities, reducing total distortion (THD) by up to 75%.

Force-cancelling design for earth-shaking deep bass

The two 9" drivers are placed in a force-cancelling configuration, which makes the cabinet almost completely free of vibrations. This clever concept works by placing the drivers in a back-to-back construction, where the drivers radiate sound in opposite directions and thereby cancel out each other’s reactive force. As a result, there is no or almost no vibration force in the drivers or the cabinet, and the result is incredibly clean sound with no distortion at all. 

The force-cancelling principle also helps make it possible for the KC92 to deliver sound pressure levels of up to 110 dB from its compact sealed cabinet. That is the same sound pressure level found in live rock music, and the high output levels are handled with outstanding control thanks to the 2 x 500 watt amplifiers, each keeping its own driver under an iron grip. 

The drivers’ diaphragms are made from a special hybrid of aluminum and paper, while an oversized motor and an advanced ventilation design for the voice coil help ensure outstanding precision with minimal distortion.

Folded surround suspension for increased speed and dynamics

The KEF KC92 represents a groundbreaking approach to improving driver precision and performance. Inspired by the Japanese paper art of Origami, KEF has folded the drivers’ suspension in an innovative way, creating a unique combination of strength and lightness. This allows the driver to handle the internal air pressure in the cabinet with exceptional efficiency, resulting in a more precise and dynamic bass experience. Together with other innovative technologies such as Uni-Core, the P-Flex Surround helps ensure that the KC92 delivers fast, precise, and almost subterranean bass with full control.

SmartConnect and the option of wireless connection 

The KC92 also offers a comprehensive range of connection options, including the advanced SmartConnect function, which automatically optimizes the signal gain depending on whether a mono or stereo signal is being used. This guarantees that you always get optimal performance, no matter how your system is configured.

The KC92 is also compatible with KEF's smart KW1 adapter, which allows you to make the subwoofer completely wireless. The KW1 adapter makes it possible to transmit audio in true high-res, ensuring that all the details and effects from your favorite movies and music are delivered clearly and precisely. This gives you the ultimate freedom to place the KC92 wherever you want, since you are not limited by any cables between the subwoofer and the rest of your system.

The sealed cabinet design of the KC92 makes it easy to place the subwoofer in any room, since it has no bass port that needs air around it. At the same time, the KC92 is an exceptionally elegant and stylish subwoofer with its rounded corners, aluminum diaphragms, and high-class finish.

WITH THE KC92, you are guaranteed perfect sound no matter where you place it. This is thanks to KEF's Room Placement EQ, which allows you to adapt the subwoofer to different room positions through 5 preset EQ settings. Here you can set the subwoofer depending on whether it is placed freely in the room, against the wall, in a corner, inside a cabinet, or in a dedicated apartment mode.
