IsoAcoustics Aperta SUB XL – more control under large subwoofers

IsoAcoustics Aperta SUB XL is an isolation platform for larger and heavier subwoofers. It is placed directly under the subwoofer and reduces the transfer of vibrations between the cabinet and the floor. With a maximum load capacity of 72.6 kg, the XL version is designed for subwoofers that are too large or heavy for the regular Aperta SUB.

The patented IsoAcoustics isolators limit the mechanical energy passed on to the surface underneath. This means less energy in the floor and less risk of furniture and other objects being set in motion. At the same time, the subwoofer gets better mechanical working conditions, so the focus is more on the bass itself rather than vibrations in the room.

IsoAcoustics Aperta SUB XL reduces vibrations in the floor

A powerful subwoofer does more than just move air. It can also send mechanical energy into the floor, where the vibrations can set furniture and other objects in motion. This can create unwanted resonance that interferes with the bass you actually want to hear.

Aperta SUB XL decouples the subwoofer from the surface and reduces this energy transfer. IsoAcoustics describes the result as tighter, more defined bass with greater clarity. So the purpose is not to make the subwoofer play more, but to give it better mechanical working conditions and limit the vibrations around it.

Patented isolation between subwoofer and floor

IsoAcoustics' design also works with vibrations reflected from the surface and carried back toward the subwoofer cabinet. The patented isolators are directional and developed to resist lateral movement and oscillation.

That is why the IsoAcoustics Aperta SUB XL must be placed with the logo facing forward. The isolation technology has been tested at the National Research Council of Canada, and the XL model is based on the same principle as the smaller Aperta SUB – but is sized for larger and heavier subwoofers.

For subwoofers up to 72.6 kg

Aperta SUB XL measures 368 × 406 × 37 mm and can support a subwoofer weighing up to 72.6 kg. The low profile makes it possible to place the platform directly under both front- and side-firing subwoofers without getting in the way of the existing feet.

If the subwoofer is to stand on carpet, four Carpet Discs are included. They create a solid connection through the carpet to the surface underneath.

IsoAcoustics Aperta SUB XL is especially relevant when your subwoofer already delivers the desired deep bass, but the floor and the rest of the room react more to the vibrations than you want. Here, the platform provides a simple way to work with the mechanical contact between the subwoofer and the surface underneath.
