Dynaudio Evoke 50 - big sound with room for the nuances
Dynaudio Evoke 50 is for those who want a large floorstanding speaker with fullness and dynamics, but who listen just as much for the presence in a voice as for the weight in a bass line. As the largest model in the Evoke series, it combines two dedicated woofers with a separate midrange and Dynaudio's Cerotar tweeter.
The 3-way design gives each driver its own task. The woofers handle the deep tones, while the midrange can focus on voices and instruments. It is a design that focuses on both the foundation of the music and the small nuances that make it worth listening more closely.
Highlights
- 3-way floorstanding speaker with two 18 cm Esotec+ woofers
- Separate 15 cm midrange with technology from the Contour series
- 28 mm Cerotar soft-dome tweeter with Hexis
- MSP diaphragms with a focus on low weight, stiffness, and damping
- Rear-facing bass reflex ports with two-piece foam plugs
- Four finishes: Black High Gloss, White High Gloss, Walnut Wood, and Blonde Wood.
Fullness in the bass and space for the voices
The two 18 cm Esotec+ woofers use Dynaudio's own MSP diaphragm, which is made in one piece. The material combines low weight, stiffness, and damping, while copper voice coils and Ferrite+ magnets are chosen for handling the low frequencies. The focus here is on giving the music weight while preserving definition in the bass line.
The separate 15 cm midrange is based on a design from the Contour series. It has a lightweight aluminum voice coil and a powerful neodymium magnet. Because the driver does not need to reproduce the deepest bass, it can concentrate on the range where voices, strings, and many acoustic instruments have their character.
Cerotar tweeter with a focus on the details
The Cerotar tweeter is based on technology from, among others, Special Forty, Contour, and Confidence. Behind the coated fabric diaphragm sits Hexis - an internal dome that limits unwanted resonances and helps make the frequency response smoother.
The goal is to preserve the fine overtones and small details without unnecessary sharpness. This is relevant for those who like to listen through an entire album and notice both the tone of the instruments and the small details around a voice.
A large speaker with the home in mind
Dynaudio Evoke 50 has rear-facing bass reflex ports with two-piece foam plugs. The ports can be left open, partially closed, or fully closed, so you can adjust the bass reproduction to the placement and the room. This provides a practical way to fine-tune the balance when the speakers are finding their place in the living room.
The design is kept simple with rounded shapes and four different finishes. Black High Gloss and White High Gloss have a glossy lacquered surface, while Walnut Wood and Blonde Wood provide a more natural look with wood veneer.
Evoke 50 is a large floorstanding speaker, but the design also takes the home around it into account. You can choose the look that matches your furniture and materials without changing the speaker's construction.
