Børresen T1 Silver Supreme Edition – compact high-end speaker

Børresen T1 Silver Supreme Edition is a compact standmount speaker for the music lover who wants Børresen's most advanced technologies brought together in a smaller speaker system. Silver Supreme Edition combines the RP94 planar ribbon tweeter with a 5\" IronFree5 woofer/midrange, handmade silver rings in the motor system, and cryogenically treated metal parts.

A large part of the technology is hidden in the driver system, crossover, and cabinet, where the individual solutions have been developed with the same goal: to let as little as possible stand between the recording and the listener.

Silver Supreme – from copper to silver

One of the most significant differences in the Børresen T1 Silver Supreme Edition is found in the woofer/midrange unit's motor system. Here, the copper rings have been replaced by specially designed, handmade silver rings with the aim of reducing inductance even further.

According to Børresen, the standard design already has about ten times lower inductance than conventional drivers. In the Silver Supreme version, the manufacturer states that the difference increases to about twelve times lower inductance.

All metal parts also undergo a three-day cryogenic treatment. The temperature is gradually lowered to around -196 °C, maintained, and then slowly brought back to room temperature. Børresen states that the process further reduces inductance by 6-8% and changes the structure of the metal for improved conductivity.

IronFree5 with a diaphragm of only 5.5 grams

The IronFree5 unit's diaphragm consists of two very thin layers of carbon around a 4 mm Nomex honeycomb core. The design combines high rigidity with a total diaphragm weight of just 5.5 grams.

The low moving mass allows the unit to accelerate and brake quickly in step with the music signal.

Above the woofer/midrange works Børresen's RP94 planar ribbon tweeter. Together, the two units are developed to cover a frequency range from 50 Hz to 50 kHz.

Series crossover with carefully selected components

Børresen T1 Silver Supreme Edition uses a series crossover, where the units share the electrical current through the crossover region. According to Børresen, the aim of the design is to keep the units phase-coupled and create a coherent transition between woofer/midrange and tweeter.

The crossover uses foil coils with paper insulation, which are vacuum-impregnated with resin to increase mechanical stability. The capacitors are built as arrays of small military-spec stack-foil types. For tweeter attenuation, metal strip resistors are used with a focus on low noise and low thermal variation.

Cabinet and resonance control

The cabinet combines heavy internal bracing and compressed wood with walnut veneer and solid walnut details. The tweeter section is vented to equalize air pressure, while the bass section uses a tuned port.

The T1 system is also developed for use with Ansuz Darkz resonance control. The stand has three points on the top plate for placing Darkz between the speaker and stand, and the feet can likewise be placed on individual Darkz.

Børresen also uses Ansuz technologies based on the Tesla Coil principle as well as anti-airborne resonance coils. The purpose is to reduce electrical and airborne RF noise around the system.
