Børresen A3 is a floorstanding speaker for the quality-conscious music lover who wants an ambitious hi-fi system with a focus on precision, dynamics, and detail. Børresen RP94 ribbon tweeter

Børresen A3 uses the brand’s RP94 planar ribbon tweeter, which operates from 2.5 kHz and up with a sensitivity of 94 dB. The diaphragm consists of nylon/aramid with an aluminum coating and weighs just 0.01 grams.

The very low moving mass allows the tweeter to respond quickly to changes in the signal. At the same time, the construction is developed to maintain linear behavior during large dynamic swings. The result is a tweeter engineered with a focus on fast response and reproduction of the small details in the music.

DCC5s drivers for bass and midrange

A3 is equipped with one DCC5s bass/midrange driver and two DCC5s bass drivers. The diaphragms have an aramid honeycomb core placed between two layers of carbon fiber. The construction combines high rigidity with low mass and is developed for precise movement and reduced distortion.

The motor system uses ferrite magnets and dual copper caps that reduce inductance around the voice coil. At the same time, a titanium former is used, where the combination of low weight and high rigidity contributes to a fast and controlled response.

A speaker developed with a focus on noise and resonances

Børresen works purposefully to reduce acoustic and electrical noise as well as influence from the surroundings. In A3, low-mass, high-rigidity drivers are combined with a crossover optimized for coherence and minimal signal loss. The cabinet also contributes with damping and resonance control.

The speaker is also designed to be used with Ansuz Darkz. These optional resonance control devices work mechanically between the speaker and the surface beneath it in order to manage vibrations and internal energy.

Børresen A3 for the ambitious hi-fi system

Børresen A3 has a frequency range of 25 Hz to 50 kHz, a sensitivity of 89 dB/1W, and an impedance above 6 ohms. The manufacturer recommends an amplifier of more than 50 watts.

With a height of 132 cm, a weight of 54 kg, and three DCC5s drivers, A3 is a striking floorstanding speaker.
