Audiovector R3 Signature - A speaker in complete balance

The most composed model in Audiovector's new R3 series is no longer called Super, as was the case with the earlier SR3 models. It is called Signature, which shows that Audiovector has chosen to place its entry level even higher than before. The new R3 undoubtedly has a heavy legacy to carry after the SR3 Signature, because it was one of their all-time best-selling speakers.

Let’s make it clear right away: the Audiovector R3 Signature is by no means old wine in new bottles. Significant changes and optimizations have been made in many areas, and you can hear it. The sound of the R3 Signature is at least a full level above its predecessor, and this is clearly audible in the way the bass/midrange is more punchy and precise than before. The new 6.5" carbon drivers also have a very special signature of "plasticity" to them, which is highly addictive to listen to, and clearly shows their close relationship to the large R8 flagship model.

A new and improved speaker

There is no doubt that Audiovector has spent a great deal of money and time developing the new carbon fiber drivers, and the result is nothing short of outstanding. The drivers are incredibly fast and refined in their sonic presentation, while also reaching unusually deep in frequency considering their modest size. It delivers deep bass in a superior manner without any boom or unwanted resonances. Added to this, the titanium coils and the R Evotech tweeter simply help lift the new R3 Signature model significantly above its predecessor.

The optimized crossover, combined with a nominal impedance of 8 ohms, also makes this fantastic speaker easy for most amplifiers to drive. But the R3 Signature deserves better than a mediocre amplifier, and here the Primare I15, I25 and I35 have proven to be an obvious choice for the speaker. This is an excellent system match, but the speakers’ playing style means they can be matched with most amplifiers.
