THE CORE: A DAC WITHOUT A CHIP – SOUND WITHOUT LIMIT
SD-588 is powered by Aavik's Continuum DAC – a revolutionary, chip-free design built around an FPGA that converts all digital audio to DSD512. This happens without switching, without digital harshness, and without artificial gloss. An analog filter completes the signal path and leaves only purity, depth, and warmth – with a flow that resembles musical breathing more than data.
WHERE POWER BECOMES NOISE-FREE STRUCTURE
To ensure the right energy foundation, the SD-588 uses a resonant mode power supply that generates pure sine waves and increases the frequency when the load requires it. The result is stable operation with an extremely low noise floor and an output impedance that provides precise control and tonal calm throughout the entire signal path.
A GATEWAY TO A DIGITAL WORLD – WITHOUT COMPROMISE
On the input side, the SD-588 is equipped with galvanically isolated USB, supporting PCM up to 384 kHz and DSD256 in native format. In addition, there are two BNC and two TOSLINK inputs, all with 32-bit resolution and support up to 768 kHz. The output includes both RCA analog line and BNC digital – all created for integration into serious high-end setups.
NOISE ELIMINATION AT A MASTERFUL LEVEL
With 108 active Tesla coils and 216 active square Tesla coils, a noise-resistant field is created around the signal path. These components work purposefully to eliminate electrical interference and prevent noise spikes from reaching the music. This is not just noise reduction – it is control over the listening space and calm in every single note.
DITHER WITH DYNAMIC DEPTH
The nine dither circuits in the SD-588 work with precisely tuned counter-phase frequencies and are developed according to the principles of radar technology. It sounds technical – but it feels human: more space, more depth, more intimacy. The music moves more freely, and the microscopic details of the sound emerge effortlessly.
GOLD, ZIRCONIUM, AND COUNTERFIELDS IN PERFECT SYMBIOSIS
SD-588 uses two Gold AARC units (Anti-Aerial Resonance Coils), each with a zirconium rod and windings of silver- and gold-plated copper. These dual coils function as a shield against airborne RF noise and create a purified signal path where the midrange becomes more transparent and the sound more physical. It is not about coloration – but about the absence of contamination.
SHAPED BY MASTERS
The exterior is created with the same precision as the interior. Flemming Erik Rasmussen and Michael Børresen have designed a cabinet where aesthetics and resonance control go hand in hand. The finish is soft, the proportions balanced, and the design timeless – an expression of humble elegance and technical superiority.
