PowerHAUS M6 - Reference Mains Distribution Block

PowerHAUS M6 from Chord Company is the flagship model in the PowerHAUS series and was developed as a high-performance power distributor for high-end audio and AV systems. The construction is based on a busbar architecture with separate physical isolation of live, neutral, and earth, as well as the implementation of three parallel MainsARAY networks. These operate outside the signal path to reduce high-frequency noise and earth-related interference without introducing series impedance or limiting current delivery. The unit is designed without filters, switches, or indicators to eliminate internal noise sources.

MAINSARAY TECHNOLOGY

M6 uses three hybrid MainsARAY units mounted in parallel on the busbar structure. These function as passive noise-absorbing networks that reduce high-frequency interference without being in series with the power supply.

This preserves full current capacity for connected components and avoids the dynamic limitations often seen in filtered solutions.

BUSBAR ARCHITECTURE

Unlike star wiring, M6 uses a linear busbar structure in which power is distributed via three separate conductors. Live, neutral, and earth are physically isolated to minimize crosstalk and electromagnetic coupling.

The position of the earth conductor is optimized for maximum distance from the other conductors, reducing noise pickup and improving the system’s overall signal integrity.

HIGH-CURRENT DESIGN

Internal wiring is made with heavy-gauge, low-resistance conductors, and all components are selected for both electrical performance and mechanical stability. The 16A IEC input makes M6 suitable for systems with a high total power load, including power amplifiers and active speakers.

The sockets have been selected with a focus on contact resistance and mechanical durability.

MECHANICAL CONSTRUCTION

The enclosure is made from solid aluminium and serves both as a mechanically stable platform and as shielding against electromagnetic interference. The construction reduces microphonic effects and vibrations that could otherwise negatively affect the power supply.

The dimensions are 600 x 110 x 77 mm, placing M6 at the larger end of the segment.

DESIGN PHILOSOPHY

PowerHAUS M6 is designed without unnecessary components. There are no switches, no filtering, and no light indicators – all elements that could potentially introduce noise or reduce performance have been deliberately omitted.

The focus is solely on power distribution with minimal impact on signal integrity.
