Why do I use Darkz?
In my time as an audiophile, I have not come across anything that surpasses Ansuz Darkz.
At its core, Darkz is about making the music calm and precise, but above all about setting the music free. Without exception, all components are sonically shaped by their surroundings, and unfortunately this means that the resonances and vibrations that propagate through our electronics create a restless and forced reproduction that leaves no room for the delicate, subtle nuances in the music.
In addition, the ability to expand dynamically is limited, which in turn means that our soundstage is restricted in scope and size.
When the music gets calm and space
Music reproduced in its entirety contains both pauses and calm … but also air and separation. All of these important parameters are heavily affected by unrest in our electronics, and without the proper isolation it is simply impossible to achieve genuine High-End reproduction.
What is the point of having expensive electronics and speakers if performance is severely reduced because of resonances and vibrations? Ansuz Darkz is an extremely audible guarantee of genuine High-End reproduction.
If you are in doubt about how effective Darkz is for the final sound result, try placing them under a component and listen with them for a while. Then remove them again!
If you do not hear a noticeable difference, your system is simply not sensitive enough, and that means the foundation is not strong enough. In that case, it would be a good idea to look at whether there are obvious weaknesses or shortcomings in your power foundation.
A sensitive system is able to detect even the smallest changes, and Darkz is certainly not a small change.

HOW DOES DARKZ WORK?
Ansuz Darkz initially works according to a fairly simple ball principle, which absorbs vertical and horizontal resonances. The ball principle equalizes these resonances and, in principle, works a bit like an earthquake-proof building that is able to shift its center of gravity when affected. This creates a calm and balanced platform on which our sensitive electronics can rest.
Resonances and vibrations can never be eliminated completely. Therefore, it is also a matter of changing the frequency of these resonances so that they end up in a range that lies outside the range where our ears are most sensitive. The benefits of this are as described above.
Darkz also creates good and solid grounding of your devices, which in turn affects the overall result. A lack of grounding, or at best inadequate grounding, results in a lack of precision and timing.
THE SOUND IMPACT
Ansuz Darkz are made from several different materials and with different types of coating. Each material in itself has different abilities to handle unwanted resonances, and this property goes beyond the effect of the ball principle itself. Together, this provides an extremely effective and very audible improvement.
At the same time, the combination of material and coating gives the different Darkz their own resonance—or “distinctive sound,” if you will. As mentioned earlier, everything sonically takes on color from its surroundings, and therefore the different Darkz also have an audible influence on the system’s overall sound signature.
Think of Darkz as different tuning forks
You can compare the sonic influence of different Darkz to different tuning forks. Depending on what material a tuning fork is made from, both the tone and the decay will differ. Some have a brighter and leaner tone with a long decay, while others have a darker and warmer character with a shorter decay.
In the same way, every enclosure around electronics has its own tonal character. However, very few manufacturers have seriously worked with the enclosure’s influence on the overall sound signature. Often, the enclosures are made of relatively thin aluminum, which I personally have never found particularly appealing sonically.
Darkz can also affect the cabinet’s sound
The cabinet’s own sound signature can be influenced with the help of Darkz in different materials and weights. That is why it is not just “snake oil” when you see people from Audio Group Denmark placing one or more Darkz on top of their electronics.
It affects the cabinet’s resonances and thus also its sonic character. Since the electronics are also affected by their mechanical surroundings, changes in the cabinet’s resonances can also be heard in the overall reproduction.
One example is the Ansuz C3W in copper. When placed on top of a thin aluminum cabinet, it can contribute to a warmer and fuller reproduction. When the C3W is placed under the electronics, the same warmth and fullness are experienced, but at the same time with more firmness and weight, as well as the benefits of the mechanical handling of vibrations and resonances.
Copper, steel, and titanium sound different
Other Darkz models in, for example, steel or the more exclusive titanium naturally have a different sonic effect than the C3W in copper.
Titanium helps make the reproduction lighter and crisper in tone without becoming too lean. At the same time, the material provides fantastic decay on voices and instruments.
Titanium is an honest material that also does not pull its punches when the truth must come out. But the truth is revealed with both glow and finesse. That is precisely why the Darkz models in titanium – T2, T2S, and T3W – are so popular among the more serious enthusiasts.
