New and patented technology

One of the most important features of the Planar 2 is the brand new RB-220 tonearm, which is equipped with a new and significantly stiffer center bearing. The tonearm and the patented bearing reduce vibrations, and this gives a much more friction-free operation, completely free of play and noise. The new 24 volt motor supplies all the energy to the Planar 2, and therefore has a decisive impact on the sound quality. To handle this task, Rega has used a low-vibration motor, which is incredibly quiet and has a precise running consistency. The running consistency is further improved due to the new turntable's hard glass material, which also means that it also has better bass reproduction and dynamics.

Another advantage of the Planar 2 is that Rega makes turntables that are extremely user-friendly. They have made it easy to get started with the turntables, and it therefore doesn't require many adjustments before the Planar 2 performs at its very best. Due to a fixed anti-skating bias of 1.75, you are guaranteed that your Planar 2 will sound its best, and your records will last much longer. The Rega Planar 2 comes with the Rega Carbon pickup as standard, so all you need to get started with your new turntable is an RIAA amplifier. If your amplifier already has an RIAA, the Planar 2 is ready to play after you have adjusted the tonearm to the desired stylus pressure.
