Rega has spent 10 years working intensively on developing a new and improved Moving Magnet (MM) pickup, the ND3. The aim has been to create a pickup that is better and faster to produce without being more expensive than current models. The result is a revolutionary design that sets new standards for sound quality and precision.

Innovative Construction and Materials

The ND3 is built from the ground up with a completely new motor design. The only conventional element is the elliptical grinds on the pickup. The housing is made of a glass-reinforced material that incorporates a new generator symmetry. This design ensures superior channel balance and significantly reduces crosstalk between channels. The precise placement of components in the housing eliminates the need for time-consuming hand adjustments, making production more efficient.

Advanced Magnet Technology

One of the most significant innovations in the ND3 is the use of a Neodymium N55 magnet. This magnet is the most powerful commercially available and is not used in other MM pickups. The Neodymium N55 magnet has a higher output and is so small that it is almost invisible. It is precisely positioned at the rear of the stylus tube, reducing weight and improving pick-up. This results in sound reproduction that both starts and stops faster, eliminating any blurring of the music.

Sound Quality and Precision

The ND3's frequency response is comparable to Moving Coil (MC) pickups, solving many of the sonic challenges typically associated with conventional magnets. This results in remarkable resolution and precision that makes the listening experience a pure pleasure. Music is reproduced with a clarity and level of detail unique to this pickup.
