Zirconium – exotic metal with unique acoustic properties

Zirconium is an extremely dense, resonance-dead and non-magnetic metal, normally only used in the aerospace and nuclear industries. In the Darkz Z3W, these properties are exploited to perfection. The three discs of zirconium work together with the tungsten spheres to absorb and channel vibrations away from your components with unprecedented efficiency. The applied surface treatment with zirconium nitride and hafnium not only makes the surface hard and corrosion-resistant, but also contributes to the resonance-damping nature of the material. World-class cryo-treatment and material synergy

Both the zirconium discs and titanium shaft in the Darkz Z3W are cryo-treated. Cooling the metal to -196°C changes its internal structure, reducing micro-resonances and improving electrical conductivity by up to 8%.
